School Family and Community Compact

Vision Statement

Create a thriving community of passionate learners that leads the district in academic growth and achievement!

 

 A School-Parent Compact for Achievement is an

agreement that parents, students and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all our students reach or exceed grade-level standards.

Effective compacts:

• Link to goals of the school improvement plan

• Focus on student learning skills

• Describe how teachers will help students develop those skills using high-quality instruction

• Share strategies parents can use at home

• Explain how teachers and parents will communicate about student progress

• Describe opportunities for parents to volunteer, observe, and participate in the classroom

Jointly Developed

The parents, students and staff of B.F. Kitchen Elementary School developed this School-Parent Compact for Achievement. Teachers suggested home learning strategies, parents added ideas to make them more specific, and students told us what would help them learn.  Meetings are held each year to review the Compact and make changes based on student needs.

Parents can contribute comments at any time.

Building Partnerships

If you would like to volunteer, participate and/or observe in the classroom, please contact School Office at 970-613-5500.

 

All volunteers are required to register with the district and pass a background check before being allowed to volunteer in the school.

At School

We commit to …

• Create a welcoming, safe, and orderly learning environment.

• Provide high quality curriculum and instruction aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards.

• Provide high expectations in an encouraging, supportive manner.

• Provide additional assistance to students who are performing below benchmarks.

• Extend learning for students who have mastered grade level standards.

• Develop goals with students that align with grade level expectations. 

• Support the partnership among parents, students, community, and staff.

• Talk with students and parents about the school’s mission and vision.

• Maintain ongoing communication with parents regarding child’s progress.

• Know and respect your child and do our best to meet his/her individual needs.

At Home

I commit to …

• Prioritize school attendance by helping students get to school on time each day.

• Ensure my student gets  adequate sleep and proper nutrition.

• Encourage 60 minutes of physical activity daily.

• Open communication with the school, including the teacher and office, as circumstances arise to maximize student potential.

• Talk to my child  about school daily.

• Schedule daily shared and/ or independent reading time outside of school.

• Encourage study habits and review completed work.

• Monitor my child’s screen time.

• Support my child’s emotional, physical, and social needs.

• Encourage positive relationships between students and teachers, staff, other students, and families within the BFK Community.

 

BFK Students

We commit to …

• Attend school regularly and be on time.
• Do my homework and ask for help when needed.
• Ask for help in class when needed.
• Read at least 20 - 30 minutes every day outside of school time.
• Practice math fact fluency as assigned.
• Show our Tiger Pride...Be Kind, Responsible and Respectful and Excel in every way.
• 60 minutes of physical activity every day.

Focus Area 1: Student Achievement

Strategic Goal: By 2025 Thompson School District will move from a rating of accredited to a rating of accredited with distinction as measured by the State of Colorado District Performance Framework. 

Focus Area 2: Inclusive and Supportive Culture

Strategic Goal: By 2025 as measured by survey results Thompson School District will increase by 10% the number of students, staff, parents and community members who “strongly agree” or “agree” that they feel welcome safe and supported. 

Focus Area 3: Human Talent

Strategic Goal: Thompson School District will maintain an annual staff retention rate of 85% or greater.  

Focus Area 4: Stewardship of Resources

Strategic Goal: Thompson School District will maintain fiscal solvency through an annual balanced budget while meeting the current and future needs of the district.
